A beautiful antique Victorian Suffragette necklace C. 1900, adorned with green Peridot and violet Amethyst beads as well as creamy white Pearls.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery popularly consisted of Violet, Green and White colours which were chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking! Green is for Give, white is for Women and violet is for Votes!
The piece is held together by slender White Gold links with a hinge clasp stamped 750 for 18ct.
A fabulous long necklace that looks beautiful around the neck.
